At a recent industry engagement information session Department of Agriculture (formerly DAFF) Advised that they will be change in the Import Conditions for Machinery, specifically in regard to the current Import Permits for Machinery Importers.

From the start of 2014, Machinery Import Permits will be phased out in their current form of 2 year validity, and Permits will be required for each individual machinery shipment before export.

This places greater onus on the cleaning at origin, and also will involve processes including documenting cleaning, and providing sufficent photographic evidence.

Importers will have the opportunity to participate on a sliding scale regarding inspections and cleaning of machines on arrival in Australia and be rewarded by reduced restrictions for compliance.
